Cragganmore

First Society bottling in 1987.

The founder of this distillery, John Smith (formerly lessee of Glenfarclas, manager of Macallan and Glenlivet) weighed over 30 stones. He was a railway enthusiast, and one of the moving forces behind the Speyside Railway. This was the first distillery to take advantage of it, but Mr Smith was too large to enter a carriage and had to travel in the guards van! A Top Class malt, it is now promoted as a Classic by its owners.
