A bold initial aroma of sulphuric cranberries quicky dissipates and gives way to buttermints, hay, warm mulling spices, cherry lipstick, unctuous red fruits soaked in kirsch eau de vie and lime pith. It continues with safe, cloves, lapsang souchong and cassis. Water reveals aged riesling, Scottish IPA, Turkish delight, saffron and brandy infused prunes. The palate opens with frankincense, honeydew melon, heather honey, olive oil and dried tarragon. With reduction it develops towards honeycomb wax, char sui pork with red bean paste and bergamot. Five spice, hand lotion, mineral oil and hardwood resins all put in an appearance. After 13 years in an ex-bourbon hogshead this was transferred to a first-fill charred red wine barrique.
